The FLS Story

Where we are at today, is a vibrant 3 salon group, with regular clients from Somerset/ Bristol/ Bath and Wiltshire. We have a loyal following from clients as far as London & Edinburgh! We are excited to have served various celebrities, and our longest serving client is in her 40th year this year.

 

The story of the Frontlinestyle salons begins in the 1950’s where a talented young man set the now ‘fashionable’ entrepreneurial trend. He strove to do something different, to think outside the box, and to give great customer care to everyone he made happy with fabulous modern hair styles. He was renowned in Weston – where it all began and soon grew his empire grew to 8 salons in the Weston area. Since these humble beginnings and trend setting era Frontlinestyle has changed and grown – become professional and sophisticated, but still strives to keep those important values set so long ago – to give fabulous customer care and to ‘delight’ the client.

 

The company expanded further to incorporate; wig fitting which still remains for those who have lost their hair or for fashion reasons, also Beauty, and a luxurious perfumery, and opened salons in Wells, Taunton and most recently a state of the art Hair salon and Spa in Bath.

 

The company has now become one of the significant players in West Country hairdressing and has been delighted therefore to offer NVQ training and Modern Apprenticeships to develop the new generation.

Frontlinestyle is also committed to the importance of using exceptionally high-quality products to provide the very best for its clients.  The salon is a Wella Premier salon, stocking all the exclusive ‘in salon’ hair care including their specialist ‘System Professional’ treatment range along side Sebastian hair care and Philip Kingsley treatment products. The salon is a Clarins appointed Gold salon – one of only 60 in the country, and is also delighted to offer the marine based Phytomer products and treatments in the Bath Spa.

 

The retail area in Wells carries many exclusive Perfumes and toiletries such as Chanel, Issy Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, Escada, Hermes, Paul Smith, I Coloniali.

Business Recognition

National recognition for Frontlinestyle’s business achievements came in 1999 when, amongst other accolades, Frontlinestyle won a Customer Service Awards in the Retail category and a few years later was a finalist in the British Hairdressing Business Awards Retail Salon of the Year.

 

Frontlinestyle is a Nationally Approved Salon and holds the Five Star level in the Good Salon Guide, titles which involve stringent monitoring of standards to ensure best possible knowledge and skill for the consumer.

 

Frontlinestyle is closely involved with the local community and schools, giving careers advice as well as the opportunity to participate in work experience programmes.  Frances Urwin, Managing Director, is also involved with the Learning & Skills Council representing the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority to encourage new ways of giving and maintaining a high profile for the industry.  She is also involved with the Hairdressing Employers’ Association, acting as a member of the National Executive Committee, and she is regularly a Guest speaker for company conferences, focus groups and on Wella Retail Education days offered to other salon owners.

Being Involved..

Frontlinestyle has been pleased to participate in ‘Hair’ and ‘Beauty’ antics for many local and national charity events by shaving heads! Waxing chests! Spraying hair red! amongst other things and has appeared on national and local radio. The company continues to be involved in Fashion and bridal shows and many other events both to raise money and to develop and excite the team. The team also participate in local and national competitions, have published magazine work, photoshoots for the press and on stage sharing ideas at national shows. We have links with other companies and work together to create experiences for the client.

 

Frontlinestyle remains a company of opportunity. Now in its third generation and with many years of experience bought together both from the directors, team members and even clients themselves; the desire remains the same; fabulous customer service and to ‘delight’ the client.
