This September and October, award-winning hair styling brand ghd has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign with the Little Princess Trust to raise awareness for this amazing charity. CHOP TO YOUR CHIN with ghd’s legions of fans and top stylists is encouraging people with long hair to chop to their chin and donate their hair to the Little Princess Trust which provides high quality, real hair wigs to children across the UK and Ireland who have sadly lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.
About the Charity
The Little Princess Trust was founded in 2006 by Hannah Tarplee’s parents with the help from friends from Hannah’s school, Hereford Cathedral Junior School. Hannah Tarplee was diagnosed with having a Wilms tumour and after a brave battle, sadly passed away in 2005. At the time of Hannah’s illness, finding high quality wigs for children was very difficult and it was only after a long search for a suitable company that Hannah’s parents were able to find a wig for her. Hannah found losing her hair very traumatic so she loved wearing her wig, especially on special occasions and when she passed away many kind people offered help in both a financial and practical way. So Hannah’s parents decided to use this help by launching a charity where children could access specialist real hair wigs and get the same pleasure and enjoyment from wearing them as Hannah did.
Since it was founded, the charity has now helped thousands of children and has given away over 5,000 free wigs to children suffering from hair loss. However, with the ever-growing demand for real hair wigs, the Little Princess Trust needs more help than ever with donations of real hair.
To get involved with the CHOP TO YOUR CHIN campaign book an appointment at Frontlinestyle Bath or Wells salons on telephone: 01225 478478 (Bath Hair & Beauty Salon) and 01749 672225 (Wells Hair & Beauty Salon).
The CHOP TO YOUR CHIN campaign offers you a practical way to help this great charity. The Little Princess Trust can accept a minimum hair donation of 7”/17cm, however there is a greater need for hair that is over 12”/30cm which will make much longer wigs.
Hair donations may be may be dyed, bleached & highlighted, as long as they are of a natural colour, and may contain the occasional grey (less than 10%). Hair type can be straight, wavy, curly, permed or chemically straightened.
To help this fantastic cause, spread the word using #choptoyourchin and join ghd and the Little Princess Trust in raising awareness and donating your hair to make a difference to a child’s life today.
Your stylist will wash and dry your hair first – this will then be sectioned, put into ponytails or plaits, secured at both ends with a band and cut above the band nearest your head. Once the chop has been made, your hair will be trimmed and styled as you wish. Feel free to talk to your hair stylist for inspiration! Frontlinestyle will provide you with a Chop To Your Chin certificate from ghd and the Little Princess Trust.
Put your dry ponytail or plaits into a clear, resealable plastic bag. Fill out a Hair Donation Slip with your contact details and place both the slip and the plastic bag containing your plaits into a padded envelope and post to the following address: The Little Princess Trust, Broadway House, 32-35 Broad Street, Hereford HR4 9AR, U.K.
