What’s Hot for this Year’s Party Season

The party season is upon us and if you pick up any style magazine the ideas for you to get your unique party look are endless! It can also be confusing with a myriad of makeup looks and hairstyles which can be wonderful but not quite for you. Although these tips and suggestions are great, for today’s woman juggling a busy lifestyle and everyday practicalities, running the gamut of trendy looks can be exhausting. So here at Frontlinestyle we have compiled a selection of this season’s key looks for you to think about and get inspired by.

The overriding trend on the Autumn/Winter 2017 catwalks was a step away from pared back minimalism and a movement towards luxury and bohemian decadence. Velvets, embroidery, silks and satins in jewel colours and midnight blues, golds and burgundies were prevalent. This in turn gave rise to a more feminine look without being too ‘girly.’

Hair reflected this with the ‘flat wave;’ a look which offers gently sculpted waves that are like a crimped effect magnified 100 times – think the Lady of Shalott and the muses of the Romanticism movement. Soft waves are back with a vengeance as are defined waves which are best achieved with the ghd Curve® Soft Curl Tong and the New ghd Curve® Nocturne Creative Curl Wand, both available at Frontlinestyle Hair and Beauty Salons. We also offer a complimentary session on how to get the best out of your ghd styling tools with any purchase of our ghd products!

The Bouncy Blow Out is back along with Big Hair and we love it. For sumptuous, large waves and glamorous volume ask your hairstylist to blow dry your hair for this fabulous day to night time look.

If you want a style that is full of understated elegance and grace, a timeless fashion seen on many catwalks is the low chignon finished with a velvet bow. A step up and on from the ‘80s Fergie Bow except now it’s all grown up. Complete the look with diamond or crystal statement earrings for the ultimate finishing touch.

Creative Colours

Within the world of hair colour we see fine blonde streaks being replaced with chunky ribbons of golden hues in face framing highlights. If you’re blonde already this will create definition and enhance the shape and texture of your hair and if you’re brunette the lighter lengths will add a beautiful lift and glow to your overall look. This can also work well with ‘Hidden Highlights’ coming through underneath the hair and introduced in warmer colours of honey and rose gold. These can also be achieved by introducing hair extensions such as the celebrated Great Lengths Hair Extensions available at Frontlinestyle.

‘Bronde’, a mixture of blonde and brown with all the sultry classiness of brunette and the glowing highlight shimmer of blonde tips is another take on the mixture of colours we see coming through for 2017/18. This colouring technique also looks great when combined with the ‘Super-Subtle Ombré’ as seen on film star Sofia Vergara. Moving away from the dramatic dip-dyed look of last season, the Super-Subtle Ombré is wonderful on long hair with the ends and lengths just a touch lighter than the crown in a truly seamless transition.

To the other side now and we take you to the silver lands of reality-fantasy with the Snow Queen white platinum shades of almost grey. This incredible look suits all ages, so if you’re deliberating as to whether to let your true colours shine through or whether to have your hair dyed to this effect all we can say is – go for it! White is cool and far more flattering (if well styled) than you think. Be sure to eliminate any yellow tones with a purple shampoo for that sophisticated look showcased so well by style icon Helen Mirren. Ask your hairstylist at Frontlinestyle for the best tone and shade of white grey for you.

Finally we come to colours galore. ‘Millennial Pink’ was seen everywhere this year with the petal pink hue being a big hit for teenagers and fashionistas alike. Frontlinestyle predicts that this colour is going to keep on keeping on in 2018 and it is the perfect look for the party season. If amethysts and violets are more your scene then the fantasy colour ranges so popular with Hollywood and the edgy world of the music industry are yours to try, either on a permanent basis or as a wash out colour. Rock these colours and watch your teenagers see you in a whole new light!

Nail It

Natural nails, nudes and the ‘barely there’ effect are big news for nail colour giving you the added benefit of enhancing but not overpowering any outfit. If you want a bit more colour but don’t want to go bold ask your manicurist to show you the range of pastel nail colours – not just for spring but as a pick-me-up for winter blues as well.

Gucci showcased glittering talons embellished with multi-coloured crystals on their Autumn/Winter catwalks. If this is a bit impractical for you then you can always ask one of our nail technicians to add sparkling glitter to the fingertips of a french polish or ruby red nail for an on-trend finishing touch and a shimmer ombré for nails.

Kiss and Makeup

Frontlinestyle offers a makeup-to-go service designed to get you party ready by one of our professional makeup consultants. Here are some suggestions we think you might like for this Winter 2017…

Smoky eyes never go out of style. Wing it with flicked out eyeliner or use smudged kohl for that desirable sultry look. Keep lips neutral or pale to really make beautiful Bette Davies Eyes stand out and seduce.

For grown-up girls and ladies you cannot go wrong than a cute kitten eyeliner flick and red lips. If you’re scared, don’t be. CLARINS have a range of red lipsticks in cool and warm tones suited for your individual skin tone. Ask one of our consultants at Frontlinestyle about which red will suit you best.

If you’re embracing the mystical, fantastical winterlands look then silver sparkle in the corner of the eyes create that subtle Snow Queen effect and simultaneously brighten eyes beautifully.

All Year Round Glow

And finally, a healthy tan is wonderful but not all of us can manage to retain our natural summer colour. At Frontlinestyle we offer a Sienna X 1 hour spray tan for that all-important healthy glow. The perfect compliment to any hair colour, style, makeup look and outfit.
